APPEAL: Help share the hope of Jesus across the Arab world

‘When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: ‘Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!’” Luke 1:41-42 (NIV)

Our hearts weigh heavy when we turn on our televisions and witness the devastating scenes across the Middle East. Now, like never before, the Arab world needs to know that Jesus Christ came to give hope to the nations.

The Christmas story is a story of hope and reminds us of God’s intervention in a time of turmoil.

God’s message of hope

The New Testament explains that at the time of Christ’s birth, the people in the first century were living in a time of fear, uncertainty and hardship. Their land was under the harsh occupation of the Roman Empire. But two women, Elizabeth and Mary, received good news which turned their lives upside down.

Despite impossible odds, they were set to become mothers! Against a backdrop of chaos and conflict, Elizabeth and Mary were carrying, quite literally, a message of hope: a promise from God to perform miracles of new life and restoration.
